NOTE: The intent is for the ice to be prepared to start curling the last week of October. Individuals in the Masters and Open leagues can plan to start curling the week of October 28 if everything goes according to plan. Interested in helping install the ice? Leagues run until the end of March with a two week Christmas break (Dec 23 - Jan 3).

 Masters (Seniors) League - Daytime

Registration for the daytime (Tuesday and Friday draws at 1pm) will open the week of Sept 23, read on below for specific details on how to register.

The Senior League is for curlers over 60 years of age by Dec 31 of the year in which the season begins. There is a cap of 42 registered curlers for the season. League play is Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1- 3pm. Teams are randomly picked every session from the individuals in attendance.  Tuesdays are followed by coffee and snacks  while Fridays are followed by happy hour. 

 

Registration for this coming season will take part in 3 phases:

• Phase 1 - registered members from the 2023-24 season who are BC residents permanently

• residing in the Elk Valley.

• Phase 2 - BC residents permanently residing in the Elk Valley.

• Phase 3 - people who do not reside in the Elk Valley.

Phase 1 people will be able to register first and will be given time to register before Phase 2 people can start registering. Phase 1 people will only be given priority until registration opens for Phase 2 and Phase 2 people will only be given priority until registration opens for Phase 3
people. Phase 3 people will be eligible to register at a later date. Phase 2 and 3 registrations will occur on a first come first serve basis. Registration will close once 42 people have registered.

Registration for Phase 1 starts at 8am on Tuesday, September 24, Phase 2 at 8am on Thursday, September 26 and Phase 3 at 8am on Saturday, September 28.

registration status and payment details. Cost is $200/person for the season. 

 

Drop-In: If a non-member is interested in attending, show up at the club by 12:45pm and if the 32 available spots are not claimed by registered members the drop-in(s) will get to play. Drop-ins will be able to play based on their order of arrival. Drop-in fees are $10/session (cash only).

Open Mixed (Adult) League​ - Evenings

Teams in the evening league includes players a minimum of 18 yrs old and includes mixed-gender teams or all male, all female, etc. The evening league operates Monday - Thursday (max 10 teams per night)  and games begin at 6:45pm. The club/bar opens at 6:15 and stays open till 10/10:30 pm.

This league is inclusive of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. It is expected that advanced or 'experienced' teams will be patient and kind to new teams who are learning not only how to play the game but other basics such as etiquette and scoring. In hockey speak... this is a beer league. Folks come out to have a good time, do a bit of curling and socialize.

Registration is $850/team. A team is max 6 players. Max registration is 40 teams. Registration will run Sept 20 - Oct 4.

 Advanced Mixed (Adult) League - Evenings

Fernie Curling Club is responding to local demand and offering a competitive/advanced league for the 2024/2025 season. Teams in the evening league includes players a minimum of 18 yrs old and includes mixed-gender teams or all male, all female, etc. The league will operate on Sunday evening s with a draw time of 6:45pm. The club/bar will open at 6:15pm and stay open till 10/10:30pm.

This league is for players with advanced knowledge of the game, both skill and etiquette. The goal of this league is to provide a space for competitive curling for advanced players. If you are uncertain if your team should enter this league, please email ferniecurling@gmail.com and we can help .

Registration is $850/team. A team is max 6 players. Max registration is 10 teams, minimum is 6. Registration is open Sept 8 till Sept 18.

​Youth Curling

Similar to last year, youth curling will take place on Mondays (timing to be confirmed) and typically kicks off in mid to late November. If you are interested in youth curling please email ferniecurling@gmail.com with the youth's name and contact details. Youth curling accommodates kids 10-17 yrs old.
